Due to an incredible number of requests we receive each week, for visits to our ranch, we feel we need to explain our visitation policy. One of the reasons we enjoy what we do so much is because of the opportunities we have been afforded in meeting new families and making new friends. Our puppies are very important to us and we want them and the families that adopt them to be happy together for many years to come. We are responsible for the proper care of our breeding dogs throughout the year and for giving their offspring the best start in life. Our families rely on us to care for and protect their puppies until they are 8 wks old and can go to their new homes. What many people don't realize is that you can walk across a contaminated area and carry deadly viruses and diseases on your shoes which can, in turn, wipe out an entire litter in 48 hours or less from the moment of exposure. This is not a joke. While it may sound like being over-protective to some, we know of breeders out there who have had it happen to them. Therefore, we just cannot take any chances.
We also have some of our adult dogs in guardian homes. Therefore, if you want to meet the parents before committing to a puppy, this would most likely be impossible. However, it should be very reassuring to you that our dogs are not kennel dogs but are actually functioning everyday as a pet, living with a family who loves them very much.
Besides the health risks involved with having lots of foot traffic on our property, we also need to prevent families, especially children, from meeting the puppies and becoming attached to a particular puppy based on looks or a perceived personality trait that would be unreliable prior to the temperament testing being done. Therefore, we do not show entire litters of puppies to families. We hope that our clients can put their trust in us and our process and have faith in the fact that the perfect puppy will be chosen for their family, as if it was custom made just for them. :)
So, I do hope you can understand our position. While we would love show off our dogs to you and do understand your concerns, we hope that our reputation (see reviews on our Facebook page) and good standing with an organization such as the Premium Breeders will give you the reassurance you need. We begin the allocation process around 6 wks when we have each family answer questions so we can profile them. After the trainer comes for temperament testing, we can use the family profiles and the testing results to properly match puppies to families. At that point, a reveal email will be send out to each of the families, to show you what the puppy stork has brought you! This is a fun and exciting time. The puppies will be spayed/neutered when they are around 7-7.5 wks old. Around the time the puppies are 8-8.5 wks old, you will come and meet your puppy in person. If you are not 100% thrilled with your puppy, you can let us know right then and we can move your deposit to a future litter. You are not required to pay the final balance until pick-up day so this is a low risk situation for you. We never want to force a puppy on a family and want you to be over-the-moon with your new puppy. Our allocation process has proven to be extremely reliable and our families love it!
Thank you for understanding our position and that it is in the best interest of the puppies that we limit visits to our ranch. We do look forward to meeting you and introducing you to your new puppy! :o)
